CAIRO – According to Khaled El-Anany, Egypt's minister of tourism and antiquities, the country is aiming to attract more visitors by creating new tourist markets and making admission easier.

The country's tourism industry has been harmed by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, whose citizens account for roughly 40% of Egypt's yearly beach tourism.

El-Anany stated that it has been permitted to grant foreigners arriving in Egypt an emergency entrance visa at various points of entry if they have valid visas for Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, or Schengen nations on their passports.

South Africans, Kazakhstanis, Armenians, Georgians, and Azerbaijanis who are visiting Egypt for the first time can also acquire emergency entry visas, and their names have been added to the electronic visa page.

According to El-Anany, a unique incentive package for the resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh is being considered, as are efforts to promote domestic tourism.
