Portraits of Humanity is a photographic project that celebrates the human spirit.

The winners of a photography competition honoring humanity's calm beauty, courage, and weirdness have been announced.

The shortlist for this year's Portrait of Humanity prize, which includes drag shows, snake charmers, and a Syrian family reunited, highlights the whole range of human emotions.

The tournament, now in its fourth year, honors the joys, sorrows, hopes, bravery, and eccentricities that make us who we are. Its photographs provide a glimpse into other cultures, communities, and people from all over the world.

The 200 shortlisted photographs were taken in 2021 and depicted a world recovering from a pandemic.
The judges had the difficult task of narrowing the shortlist down to 30 winning photographs, which will be displayed at PHOTO 2022 in Melbourne from April 29 to May 22.

Those unable to travel to Australia will be able to view all 200 pictures in the Portrait of Humanity Vol.4 book, produced by Hoxton Mini Press.

In the meantime, have a look at some of the nominated photographs and the personal tales that go with them in the gallery below.
